We are a family run business with three generations involved offering high quality service and tackle and bait at anglers prices. What do we mean by this? Well we offer quality tackle and accessories that are not high prices due to high marketing budgets. Tackle Frenzy specialize in catering for pleasure anglers and all of our tackle and accessories are top quality without the high price tags.
Expansion in 2008
We have had a successful start to the Tackle Frenzy shop and we would like to thank all of our customers for their patronage this year. We have expanded the showroom area to around twice the size and are planning regular promotions. We have formed a Tackle Frenzy Anglers Club for local anglers to enjoy (click here to find out more) and we welcome input from local anglers on which brands and tackle you wish to see in the shop.
Fishing is a great sport and delivers a sense of satisfaction, accomplishment and most of all enjoyment so if you are thinking about taking up the sport come in and see us, we will not pressure you into starting or buying expensive tackle (we can get you going for just a few quid) but we can guide you in the right direction and maybe put you in touch with a few anglers who are more than happy to help.
Tackle Frenzy - For All of Your Fishing Baits
Resources Fishing Tackle
The purpose of Tackle Frenzy is two fold, to offer great value
fishing tackle to anglers
of all abilities as well as to offer advice on
fishing
tackle
and accessories required to make a good days fishing. I found some useful sites on the Internet offering advice
on
fishing
tackle and some less than useful stores on the Internet all throwing offers at me but none really getting into the mind of the weekend angler. Buy this
fishing tackle cheap or that for less than anyone else or this reel and that rod with this line and these lures but none of them explained why I should look at buying this reel and that rod with this line and these hooks.
Tackle Frenzy is here to change all that. Fishing RodsThe fishing rod has several materials that it can be manufactured from, each having different benefits to the angler. Entry level fishing rods are normally the chosen fishing tackle for new anglers constructed from glass fibre blanks (the bit everything else is attached to) which has been used for years. Glass fibre performs well for it's price and can provide many years of fishing tackle service if looked after, however it is fair to say that if abused it can be snapped fairly easily. The next stage is composite materials, a mixture of glass fibre and low density carbon. Stronger and lighter than glass fibre, most rods below £35 are made of a composite mix. You then have a low density carbon fibre which is lighter again and stronger than composite mix followed by the Rolls Royce of blanks which is high density carbon fibre. As usual your fishing tackle budget will dictate which material you receive in your blank, however every rod sold by Tackle Frenzy offers value for money so if you are on a fixed budget, a well cared for glass fibre or composite blank will serve the weekend angler well. Fishing ReelsThe Fixed Spool fishing reel is an essential piece of fishing tackle and has come on a bundle over the past 10 years without increasing in price! As a coarse angler in my youth I had in my fishing tackle the Mitchell Match reel which was the Rolls Royce of reels with single hand casting, 3 ball bearings and sensitive drag settings. Now even the cheapest coarse fixed spool reel is smooth with reasonable drag settings and functions admirably. The term fixed spool means that on these reels the spool is stationary (fixed) and the line is wound around the spool via a bail arm. There are a number of sizes of fixed spool reel that can be carried in your fishing tackle with the smaller numbers 20, 30 and 40 being used for float / match fishing going up to size 60 being used for specialist anglers and sizes 65, 70 and 80 being used by sea anglers. In order to cast and allow line to run free the bail arm is cocked, the rod is flicked and the rig cast out then the bail arm is reset either manually or by winding the handle. These reel are easy to master and provide easy maintenance and servicing. The only down side is if the line is allowed to become loose on the spool it can sometimes be wound under the fixed spool. This is easily remedied by taking the spool off, unwinding the line and placing the spool on again - easy! Keep at least two sizes in your fishing tackle to allow for more than one fishing eventuality. ![]() |
